The Road to Perdition or the Path to Righteousness?
We're 'Going to Hell in a Handbasket' Unless We Change Course
A Note to Readers
Many of you may have noticed I haven’t written much in the past few months. Although I’m loath to admit it, I had given up. I have watched the country I so love being decimated in the last two years by a weak, corrupt leader, incompetent and autocratic bureaucrats, and a racist ideology that excuses injustices and glorifies reverse discrimination. I have looked on as a transgender-activist philosophy indoctrinates young children and encourages them to mutilate their bodies. I have listened sadly to blue-state governors promoting sanctuary for those mothers who would kill their unborn, innocent children. And, I have lamented a president who is bankrupting this country, giving away billions to secure the Ukrainian border but refusing to secure our own borders. This policy has allowed fentanyl to kill tens of thousands per year and–by his pro-illegal immigrant policies–this president has actually emboldened sex trafficking. I began wondering if my writing, seen by maybe up to 100 people at a time, was actually doing any good. What transpired was a season of depression, boredom, and a feeling of uselessness. It wasn’t until recently, while working on a Priscilla Shirer Bible study booklet with a close friend that I decided to try to write once again. Let me explain why.
For those who have never heard this story from the gospel of Matthew, Jesus tells us a parable of talents. Talents, during the time Jesus walked the earth, were flat, round gold or silver disks, but the parable isn’t really about money. The tale is about a prosperous man about to go on a journey. Prior to leaving, he calls for his three servants. To one, he gives five talents. To another he gives two, and to the last servant, he gives one talent. While the man was away on his journey, the servant who had received five talents traded with them and made five more. Likewise, the servant whose master had entrusted with two talents parlayed them into two more. However, the servant who had only received one talent, dug a hole and buried it for safekeeping. When the master returned, he asked for an accounting from his servants. To the two who had doubled their talents, he praised and improved their positions. Unfortunately, for the one who had buried his talent, the master had harsh words, then took the talent, giving it to the first servant. The parable of the talents was Jesus’ way of helping us understand that we must use the gifts–whether financial or talents–God has given us for his glory and to let others know the Good News of the Bible. My gift—as amateur as it is—is writing, so I will carry on.
Public Education: On the Road to Perdition
"We’re going to hell in a handbasket" is a well-worn phrase. But, have you considered that that’s exactly where we’re headed if we can’t turn around some or all the policies and agendas leftists have foisted upon this once great country? Let’s take, for example, public education today.
Grooming Our Children
What is being taught and served up on a platter straight from the inner sanctum of Hades is leading our children down the road to perdition. Schools today include sexually explicit books in school libraries lauding the benefits of a transgender and/or gay lifestyle. One brave 11-year-old boy and his father decided to expose pornographic books checked out to young students from the school library. Take a look at the video below and see real courage in action.
Sexually explicit books are not enough for activist teachers who push an LGBTQ+ agenda in their classrooms daily. If you doubt this, watch the following video where some of these activist teachers love to brag about indoctrinating their students.
Critical Race Theory & Marxism
Additionally, many educators have been promoting The 1619 Project alternative version of American history and indoctrinating students into hating their own country and White people via Critical Race Theory. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, let’s call it what it really is: Marxism. It is a way to divide and conquer. Communists pit one class against another like the rich vs. the poor, but that doesn’t work well in America because people who work hard can still achieve financial success. So, Marxists like Nikole Hannah-Jones (author of The 1619 Project) and Ibram X. Kendi (author of How to Be Antiracist) infiltrate the education system, government, and corporations through their rhetoric and writing. (Note to readers: Publications today capitalize all races except Whites, so I opted to capitalize it as well.)
Equity is a main component of Critical Race Theory. Don’t be fooled into thinking that equity is equality. It is nothing of the kind. By way of explanation, when I taught high school, I had a sign in my room that said: Equal Opportunity, Not Equal Outcome. Equity insists on “equal outcome for all.” This leads to behavior like what high schools in Virginia experienced. The administrators in several Virginia secondary schools chose not to inform White and Asian students that they had received National Merit awards. Had these students known, they could have attained scholarships to universities. However, the schools thought it unfair that these students were rewarded for their hard work, so they withheld the information from parents and students so children of color wouldn’t feel bad. Get it. All students should achieve the exact same result–mediocrity. That, my friends, is indeed communism.
In addition, if you had any doubt that this is only happening in Virginia, you simply have to look at Oregon on the other coast. Former Governor Kate Brown suspended all reading, writing, and math proficiency requirements for three years. Charles Boyle, deputy communications director for Brown, said at the time, “The new standards for graduation will help benefit the state’s Black, Latino, Lantinx, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, Tribal, and students of color.” (Incidentally, if students are not expected to know how to read, write, and compute, what exactly are the graduation standards about which Boyle speaks?)
Likewise, Principal Michelle Irwin of Patrick Henry High School in San Diego cut many honors and advanced placement classes in the name of equity. She said she wanted to “remove the stigma from non-honors courses and eliminate racial disparities in honors enrollment.” She pointed to the fact that White and Vietnamese students account for a disproportionately higher percentage of enrollment in a number of honors classes. Okay, so the White and Vietnamese students work and study harder. Now we’re going to penalize them for doing so? Does any of this make sense? Only if you understand that the goal is communism and mediocrity. A citizenry who are intelligent and can critically think would never go along with communism.
The Manipulation of Our Children
Of course, studying the injustices done to African Americans through slavery and Jim Crow laws should absolutely be taught, but the emphasis should not only focus on the horrors and brutality of these institutions. It should also focus on the fact that many White Americans fought in a Civil war to free slaves. In fact, approximately 360,000 White, Union soldiers lost their lives in this savage war. And, teachers should be clear on the facts, mainly that those exploiting Blacks for their votes today—Democrats—were the ones perpetrating many of the injustices. These atrocities included forming and joining the KKK and instituting Jim Crow laws segregating Blacks from Whites. Without this context, students can easily be manipulated.
One example of this is the African American middle school teacher in Florida who posted a TikTok video of his students last month showcasing White students bowing down to Black students. He is currently on leave and claiming it was all in good fun. But Superintendent Maria Vazquez said, "This is not free speech — it is the exploitation of our students for political purposes, and it will not be tolerated in our school district." Good for her!
Yet another example of what happens when teachers do not provide context to history also occurred last month which, ironically, was Black history month. In this case, some Black students in Ohio forced White students to their knees, at times knocking them to the ground and punching them. Their purpose? They demanded that the White students say Black lives matter or face more punishment at their hands, all the while filming the attacks. (I have to ask where the adult supervision was on this playground.) The young hoodlums are currently facing assault charges. Is it possible the tide is turning against this nonsense?
After School Satan Clubs vs. Good News Clubs
How else is public education heading toward destruction? Although mentioned in a previous blog post, I must once again address After School Satan Clubs which seem to be popping up all over the country. These clubs were created for elementary and middle school students and are run by Lucien Greaves and Malcolm Jarry of The Satanic Temple. It seems they weren’t happy with the evangelical Good News Clubs which meet children after school and provide activities centered on the Bible and Jesus Christ. After School Satan Clubs claim to provide activities and learning opportunities as well as “promote intellectual and emotional development.” In fact, what these Satanists really want is for parents to try to ban their nefarious organization, so they can sue, collect their money, and shut down Good News Clubs.
As disturbing as these clubs are, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised they are coming to a local school near you. I just read an appalling story today entitled Satanic Temple’s ‘Weekend of Blasphemy’ Sells Out in Boston. The event is called SatanCon 2023 and will take place April 28-30, promising a “weekend of blasphemy and remembrance in Boston.” If this doesn’t say we need to repent and turn back to God, I don’t know what does.
Violence Spawns More Violence
Obviously, another disturbing trend in public education is the amount of violence being perpetrated by out of control students emboldened by viewing Antifa and Black Lives Matter thugs burning down cities, destroying statues, looting stores, controlling large swaths of cities, and injuring or killing police officers or anyone they deem not part of “the cause.” Our students have watched this destruction nightly on the news, noting that none of the hooligans have faced consequences. In fact, they’ve probably also noticed that some of our politicians, like Kamala Harris, encouraged the rioters with statements like this: “They’re not going to stop. This is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not going to stop and everyone beware, because they’re not going to stop. They’re not going to stop before Election Day in November, and they’re not going to stop after Election Day. Everyone should take note of that on both levels. They’re not going to let up and they should not and we should not.” (Bold emphasis is mine.) Hello, Madame Vice President. The students are watching and listening.
These students are further motivated to physically assault other students and even teachers they believe “deserve” it because they’ve learned in some classes, as was mentioned earlier, that people of color are oppressed by White people. Why wouldn’t they want to hurt those they have been taught are oppressing them and have been at the root of subjugating people of color for the last two centuries? Below you will see a violent attack against a teacher aide who took a gaming device away from a six foot seven, 270 pound Black student in class. Later, in the hallway, he spots her and decides to teach her a lesson. After being pulled off the woman and being handcuffed by police, he tells the officer he doesn’t want to go to jail because he says, “I have more important things to do.”
Some will try to make excuses for this teen because he is a special needs student, but excuse-making is what is leading to so much violence, not only in schools but in society at large. This young man is a danger to society and should pay for his heinous crime with time behind bars.
Final Thoughts
To conclude, today in our schools we have unhinged educators brainwashing our students regarding their sexuality, extremist ideologues pushing a racist agenda to inculcate hatred of the country and Caucasians in their classrooms, Satanists attempting to circumvent wholesome, morality-based after school activities, and ferocious violence perpetrated by students towards other children and teachers. All this, despite so many schools failing to prepare our students for employment and citizenship. The chart below helps paint a picture of why public education is “going to hell in a handbasket.”
The Path to Righteousness
Clearly, America’s schools are leading students down the road to perdition. So, how do we protect our children and lead them onto a path of righteousness? Here are some suggestions.
The most important thing you can do for your children and grandchildren is to pray for them. Pray for a hedge of protection around them. Pray for wise, intelligent teachers who teach their subject matter well and refuse to indoctrinate your students regarding gay, transgender, and critical race ideologies.
Run for school board in your district. Conservatives long ago abdicated this responsibility and allowed leftists to control local school boards. It’s time to bring balance back to the education policy makers.
If you don’t have a job, apply to work as an aide in your local school, and speak up when you see something awry as a young mother working as a teacher assistant did in the school in which I currently substitute. The teacher told a young female student she could be a girl or a boy. The aide took her aside later and told the teacher she didn’t agree with this. These activist teachers need to know they are being watched. Kudos to my brave friend!
Use the Freedom of Information Act to request the curriculum for a number of different subjects so as to ascertain whether or not your school is teaching the components of Critical Race Theory or sexually explicit content. (Understand that schools and teachers will not use the phrase “Critical Race Theory.”)
Lobby lawmakers to institute a voucher system for public education in your state. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is overhauling the Arkansas public education system, raising teachers’ salaries significantly, and providing vouchers for all students so parents can send their children to high achieving schools.
If you are blessed with prosperity, take your children out of public schools and send them to a private school. Public schools will soon get the message because they get federal money for every student in attendance. Some schools, however, can’t seem to figure out why so many students didn’t return after the pandemic.
Send your kids to a charter school. Here’s an informative article on charter schools to see if they are right for your family.
If you can stay home, home school your children. There are so many resources available today to help you teach just about any subject. Here’s a great article to get you started.
Teach your children critical thinking skills and how to be courageous and stand up for their views. This article will provide a few sources.
No matter what you decide to do, you must do something. Our future citizens, leaders, and parents are sitting in a classroom today. If you don’t like what you’re seeing at your local school and society in general, be courageous, take action, and remember Jesus’ words: It will be very bad for anyone who makes one of these little children sin. It would be better for them to have a millstone tied around their neck and be drowned in the sea. (Matthew 18:6)
