Joe Biden and his leftist minions excoriate Donald Trump and his supporters daily calling them extreme and a danger to “our democracy.” First of all, let’s get something straight. We are not a direct democracy but rather a representative republic. In a direct democracy, there are no representatives and the citizenry votes on every issue. If a majority votes for, let’s say a bill, then that bill becomes law. In a representative republic, citizens are represented by leaders they elect to act on their behalf regarding their interests. However, according to World Atlas, “...in a republic, the constitution limits how the government can exercise power.” I thank God we live in a republic where a majority cannot enact laws that limit the rights of the minority like a democracy might, although the left is working hard at changing this.
The best example I’ve ever heard and one I used to illustrate a direct democracy to students is a lynching. Remember the old west with posses saddling up, catching the criminal and then a majority or all agreeing the horse thief deserved to be hanged? Yep, that’s direct democracy. Whatever the majority decides occurs with little regard for the minority. However, although we are not a direct democracy, I will use the word democracy in pointing out all the ways Democrats are subverting our Constitution, our Republic, and our way of life.
Now, back to our topic. Republicans and individuals on the right are not the ones destroying “our democracy.” Democrats are. If you’re as frustrated as I am with the Democrats’ lying mantra, here is a list–not in any particular order and not exhaustive–of the ways they are the ones undermining our system of government and the Constitution.
1. The Russia Collusion Hoax:
I’m sure everyone remembers the two FBI lovers, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, having a conversation in which Ms. Page is worried about a Trump victory in 2016 and her paramour reassures her they have an insurance policy. This insurance policy ends up being a Clinton opposition research and paid-for dossier put together by a well-paid and unscrupulous former British agent. There never was Russian collusion by the Trump campaign, but that didn’t stop the deep state (including many Democrats, FBI leadership, and leftist civil servants) from undermining the Trump administration for over two years. The fact that Special Counsel Mueller didn’t find evidence of Russian collusion, however, hasn’t stopped some Democrats–I’m looking at you, Dan Goldman–from repeating the lie to this day. Attempting to undermine a president and his administration through fake intelligence and endless investigations is not democratic; it’s a danger to democracy.
2. Impeaching Trump:
President Trump was impeached the first time for asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter’s corrupt Burisma dealings, something most Americans now know is true about the Bidens. Democrats claimed it was a quid pro quo in which Trump was withholding military aid until Zelensky did his bidding. Although Donald Trump was exonerated from charges in the Senate, it is particularly galling that it was instead Joe Biden who threatened to withhold funds for Ukraine unless the prosecutor investigating Burisma and his son was fired. Here he is bragging about his criminal offense.
Blaming a political opponent for misdeeds you’ve done is a known KGB tactic, not a sign of democracy, neither is impeaching a president for attempting to root out corruption.
Taking another bite of the apple, and citing “inciting an insurrection,” The Democrat-led House of Representatives brought forth articles of impeachment against President Trump on January 13, 2021. Never mind that what happened on January 6th of that year was a riot rather than an insurrection. Never mind that many MAGA supporters in Washington DC that day were peaceful. Never mind that the country had experienced many violent riots after the death of George Floyd at the hands of Antifa and Black Lives Matter thugs. Never mind that Trump told his supporters to march peacefully and patriotically to the capitol that day. Never mind that no one was armed. Never mind that the FBI had nearly 200 agent-provocateurs inflaming the large crowd. Never mind that neither Trump nor his supporters have ever been charged with insurrection. In fact, to democrats’ dismay, Donald Trump was once again acquitted in the Senate. Impeaching a president twice for illegitimate reasons definitely shows a disregard for “our democracy.”
3. The January 6th Committee:
This was like nothing we had ever seen before in our country. When I taught English and history to high school students, we read The Crucible, Arthur Miller’s account of the Salem witch trials. Miller used the story as an allegory about McCarthyism during the 50s. The January 6th Committee was a star chamber, the Salem witch trials, and the Committee on Un-American Activities all rolled into one factless, made-for-television reality show. Although Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was supposed to be able to choose two committee members, Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused the two he chose and instead placed two “Never Trumpers” on the committee to ensure an anti-Trump verdict. Remember my reference to a lynching earlier? This committee and its findings were nothing short of a lynch mob. When the two Republicans on the committee used words like “dangerous,” a “threat” and “unfit for office,” regarding Mr. Trump, and all the democrats on the committee had already made their minds up about the events that occurred, then the words “show trial” or “Stalin-like” proceedings come to mind. Threat to democracy, anyone?
4. Mail-in Ballots:
As you all know, during COVID the Democrats schemed to win the presidential election any way they could. After all, Trump was dangerous. So, they inflicted mail-in ballots on the whole country. A report authorized by the Crime Prevention Research Center in Europe examined EU countries’ rules and regulations regarding mail-in ballots and concluded that 78% of European countries do not allow mail-in voting fearing the possibility of voter fraud. France banned mail-in voting (unless a voter is living abroad) in 1975 after a series of cheating incidents. I don’t often find myself siding with Europe, but we all know about the harvesting, mules, and ballot stuffing that occurred in 2020 during the “most secure election in American history.” What about the people’s choice and democracy?
5. Unequal Justice Under the Law:
The Injustice Department has charged over 1200 Americans for the January 6th “assault” on the Capitol, and they are looking to arrest even more. Yes, some people were out of control and resorted to violence. These individuals should face a reckoning for their crimes. But, many of the J6ers simply went into the Capitol building peacefully and were actually ushered in by police. Numerous have been charged with obstructing Congress, “parading, demonstrating, or picketing” in a Capitol building, and entering a restricted structure. (Notice that none were charged with insurrection.)
All of these people have received prison sentences or jail time, and some have been languishing in terrible conditions without a speedy trial because they are considered domestic terrorists and not entitled to their rights under the Constitution. Enrique Tarrio–charged with seditious conspiracy–received the harshest sentence: 22 years in prison, even though he wasn’t even in DC on January 6th.
Conversely, the DC riots in 2020 involved violence toward police officers, arson, and damage to buildings. The news media deemed these George Floyd riots to be “mostly peaceful,” and Matthew Graves, US attorney for DC, said in congressional testimony that all charges were dropped for these Black Lives Matter rioters, no matter their savage offenses. Did I mention that these rioters caused over two billion dollars worth of damage? Nothing to see here, folks. Moreover, just last week thousands of crazed Hamas apologists breached White House walls calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, yet there were no arrests. I guess justice in America now depends on whether you are on the right or left politically. Doesn’t sound like democracy, does it? Sounds like a banana republic.
6. Lawfare Against Trump:
What are the leftists pulling the strings on the mentally incapacitated, physically enfeebled meat puppet known as Joe Biden supposed to do? His approval numbers are in the toilet with only 33% of voters approving of his job as president. His mental and physical deterioration is happening before voters’ eyes daily. He can’t speak without cue cards and very scripted comments on the teleprompter which he manages to mangle, and he can’t find his way off a stage or manage the steps of Air Force one without tripping. He would never be able to participate in an hour-long town hall answering Americans’ questions or going toe-to-toe on the debate stage with Donald Trump. Demonizing Donald Trump isn’t working either; instead, he’s gaining more support.
The only answer the lefties could come up with is lawfare, which is “the use of legal systems and institutions to damage or delegitimize an opponent,” according to Wikipedia. And, boy have they gone after Trump with four major cases and 91 indictments, all meant to keep him off the campaign trail and attempt to dissuade his supporters from voting for him. The ultimate goal, of course, is to find him guilty, deprive him of his vast wealth, and imprison him.
All of these cases were, of course, coordinated with the White House. For example, Fani Willis’ prosecutor-boyfriend “met with the Biden White House twice while investigating former President Trump’s alleged election interference,” according to a State of the Union article by Claire O’Hare. Likewise, Latisha James met with Biden officials at the White House three times in 2022 and 2023. Understandable since she is a rabid Democrat and made a vow to her constituents to “get Trump” if they elected her. And, in a coup de grâce, Justice Arthur Engoron, found Trump guilty of financial fraud before the trial even started.
Is this justice? An incumbent president, fearing he will lose to a man he despises, uses his justice department to prosecute his opponent on “trumped up” charges. Sounds like the types of trials conducted in the Soviet Union by authoritarian leaders. Joe Biden and the people pulling his strings are definitely a danger to democracy.
